Why we include peel-and-sticks

Colour experts consistently advise against painting test squares straight onto your wall. Your existing colour sits around the patch and changes how you see it, and a fixed patch only shows you one spot in one light. They recommend painting two coats onto separate sheets instead, then moving those sheets around the room through the day.

So we put that step in the box. Every sample comes with three paintable peel-and-sticks. Give each one two coats, let them dry, and stick them where the colour will actually live: beside the window and on the wall opposite it, at eye level and lower down. Peel them off and move them as often as you like. No patches to paint over afterwards, and actually painting a sample is far more enjoyable than squinting at a printed chip.

How to use your samples

  1. Step 1

    Choose two or three colours

Sample a few close options side by side. Shades that look alike on screen often show clearly different undertones on the wall.

  2. Step 2

    Paint your peel-and-sticks

Give each peel-and-stick two coats, so you see the depth of colour you will get on the wall, and let them dry fully.

  3. Step 3

    Move them around the room

Try them on different walls, near your floor and furniture, and look again in the morning, the afternoon and under your evening lamps.

Every sample is Cc™ Dead Matt

Samples come in one standard form: 60ml of Cc™ Dead Matt, a soft, chalky look on a durable, Class 1 scrubbable film, not a powdery chalk paint. It is the same colour you will order in any of our specialist paints. Sheen changes how a colour reads, because a higher sheen reflects more light, so the same colour can look a little different in Matt or Satin than in Dead Matt. If you are painting woodwork or cabinets, judge the colour from the sample and choose the finish on the product page.

Your questions, answered

How much is a paint sample?

£5.99 for a 60ml tester pot of real Cc™ Dead Matt paint. The price includes three paintable peel-and-sticks.

What are paintable peel-and-sticks?

Blank sheets you paint with your sample and then stick to the wall. Because they peel off, you can move the colour from wall to wall and room to room as the light changes, without leaving test patches to paint over.

Which finish are your samples?

Every sample is Cc™ Dead Matt, whichever paint you plan to use. There is one standard sample per colour, not a separate sample for each paint type.

Can I order samples now?

Yes. Samples are available to pre-order now. They are hand-made on demand and dispatch week 2 of November.

How much is delivery on samples?

Every order is sent by Parcelforce 24hr Tracked, so you can follow your parcel to your door. Delivery costs £4, and is free on orders over £75 and on complete 3-sample packs. In-stock toolkits ordered before midday are dispatched the same day.

Can I return a sample?

Samples are made and tinted to order, like our tins, so we cannot accept returns. If a sample arrives faulty, email hello@cameroncolours.co.uk with your order number and photos and we will send a replacement.
