Family Run in Nottinghamshire.
Cameron Colours is a family-run business based in the Nottinghamshire countryside. Every tin of paint is tinted on demand in Nottingham, ensuring quality and reducing waste. Our colours are purposefully curated from the landscapes, heritage, and character of Nottinghamshire. With decades of paint experience in the family, we grew tired of corporate life, so we started our own company.
Paints for every project, built on values.
Cameron Colours exists to give homeowners access to exceptional colours in paints that are genuinely engineered for the surface they are decorating. We believe that no single paint can do every job, and no single sheen can suit every room. Durability matters, beauty matters, and so does the experience of buying paint.
Everything we do is guided by traditional family and business values: honesty, hard work, and a refusal to cut corners. We are not driven by shareholder returns or private-equity timelines. We are driven by the simple belief that a product should be worth more than it costs, and that customers deserve to be treated like people, not transactions.
Our values
Family & business values
We are family-run, independent, and accountable. My name is on every tin, and our reputation is built one customer at a time.
Well engineered products
Each paint is formulated for a specific surface, then tested against market leaders to ensure it outperforms them.
Reasonable pricing
We use the best raw materials and still price fairly. Long-term value beats short-term profit.
High levels of customer service
We treat customers the way we want to be treated: with clear advice, fast responses, and no nonsense.
Built from the raw materials up
MODERN, PURE COLOURANTS
We use advanced pure colourants that deliver stronger, cleaner, and more accurate colour. Because they are formulated for high-performance resins, our colours keep their depth and durability far longer than conventional tints.
Leading resin quality and content
A paint is only as good as its resin. We specify high-quality resins at high loadings, because resin is what creates adhesion, scrub resistance, washability, and long-term durability. We do not water down the chemistry to save cost.
Performance driven tools and sundries
The best paint in the world still needs the right tool. We recommend and supply brushes, rollers, and preparation products chosen to work with our coatings, so the finish you get matches the finish we designed.
Customer experience focused website and purchase experience
We built the website we wanted to use: clear colour tools, honest product information, and a checkout that does not hide costs or force subscriptions. From sampling to project planning, every feature exists to help you make confident decisions.
Who I am
My name is Jack.
At the time of writing, I am 30 years old with 14 years of experience in the paints and coatings industry.
I have set up a family-run paint company because product quality and traditional business values are what matter to me.
The backstory
In March 2026, my senior role at an industrial coatings company was made redundant after fourteen years of service. Fourteen years starting with summer jobs and then as an assistant, manager and finally a head of department. A large American corporate company wanted to save some cost and I was left unemployed three months before my wedding.
So, I have started Cameron Colours because I want to work for myself and support my family. I believe I can do this better than the other companies out there because of what matters to me: product quality and good old-fashioned customer service.
That's not to say there aren't other good products out there. But there are smaller brands heavily devoted to their shareholders and private equity. Then there are the major brands that are run to a profit expectation, who will scrimp and save for a few percentage points of profit. The quality of the product declines and customer service suffers. I know because I've seen it happen.
My paint costs me more money to make than any other - it is based on the best raw materials and the best colourants to produce paints with the highest durability and beauty, giving maximum customer value. My products cost me more to make because I have a belief that long-term value beats short-term profit.
With all that said, it comes down to the fact that my name is on every tin of paint. That's my guarantee of its quality.
Cameron Colours
As a regular user of decorative paints and websites, I became very frustrated with how little effort other brands are willing to make to actually help the customer come to a decision. You will see throughout the website that the customer experience has been the focal point of Cameron Colours. I built a website I wanted to use. You can:
- make colours fullscreen for easier viewing;
- compare colours easily using the starred feature;
- build a palette colour by colour based on colour theory and compatibility;
- see the effect of different sheens;
- learn about each type of project in the how-to section;
- manage your project in detail in the account section;
- plan your project using the project planner to do all the heavy lifting;
- complete our FREE colour consultation using our tried and tested algorithm (that other brands charge hundreds of pounds for);
- use our Strata™ colour coding system to find the right undertone, tone, colour and muted-ness;
- sort colours by compatibility, colour or undertone for easy viewing;
- and more.
There are multiple industry-firsts right here for you to use for free - no subscription, no email, no fee.
Strata™ is our own unique paint and colourant technology, colour algorithm, and colour visualisation system. The name, meaning layers in Latin, is inspired by Nottinghamshire's rich stone quarrying heritage. Strata™ is about making the process of colour and paint selection as easy as possible so that more people can experience the benefit of a decorated home. This system is built off the learnings of buying and decorating a new-build home in Nottinghamshire. We started with plain white house and taught ourselves how to decorate, how to use colours, which colours work well in different types of lighting and more. We learned from our mistakes, like the impact of a bright green lawn on the colour of our kitchen, and we've brought these learnings to Cameron Colours.
The products
Our approach was simple: highly engineer every product without skimping on raw materials. We compared and improved upon market leaders, making durability our number one priority. Modern homes are busy places with little time for touch-ups and repainting, so our paint needed to survive that.
That being said: can one rely on a dead-matt for every surface? Unfortunately not. Paint has its limitations and with maximum durability being the goal, I do not offer one product for all surfaces. I offer one paint for each type of surface: walls and ceilings; trim and woodwork; kitchen cabinets; UPVC; and more. Each surface has its unique requirements so each paint type has been engineered for these. However, all of our paints are very durable and at least class 1 scrubbable, with paints like kitchen cabinet paint being completely washable, grease resistant and stain resistant.
Our second goal was ensuring a beautiful range of colours available across all products with maximum durability, which other brands often fail to achieve. The same colours are available across multiple types of product, giving you consistency throughout your home.
This is all the result of my obsession with quality of product and raw materials. I believe everyone should have access to the best, which is why we sell direct to homeowners. Our paint may cost more than your average DIY brand, though it is built to last much longer (and still costs less than certain luxury paint brands).
